Restaurant Review: 333 Belrose Bar & Grill

By Theresa Smith

I had heard of 333 Belrose Bar & Grill a while ago but hadn’t had the chance to enjoy a meal there until recently. Now that I’ve finally been there, my husband and I will be back. On the outside, 333 Belrose looks like a nice unassuming establishment. But that’s because what happens inside is magical. Chef Carlo deMarco has created a menu with amazing flavors that surprise and delight your palate.

A mix of seasonal offerings and customer favorites complete the menu. This is a wonderful way of creating your menu; it allows the chef to have fun with new offerings while perfecting the dishes that bring patrons back. And I’d have to say, the dishes were pretty perfect.

Jason started off with the Harvest Corn Chowder. Featuring toasted corn croutons, this chowder was like slipping into a comfy chair. The texture was creamy and full of corn and potatoes. The thickness of the chowder was just right; it coated your spoon but didn’t overfill you. I’m sure Jason would’ve ordered another bowl or three if he could have. It was easy to see why it is a customer favorite.

For our entrées, Jason chose a dish from the daily menu while I went with a restaurant favorite.

The Wood Grilled New York 12oz Strip Steak was Jason’s choice for the evening. The dish featured truffle Parmesan mac and cheese, sautéed baby carrots and cherry tomatoes and truffle butter. The steak was cooked to Jason’s liking and the kitchen did an excellent job of serving a tasty, juicy, tender steak. The mac and cheese had just the right amount of cheese coating each pasta and the truffle added to the flavor without being overpowering. The baby carrots and cherry tomatoes added a brightness to the dish that balanced the steak and mac and cheese wonderfully.

I decided to have the Java Pork Tenderloin which comes with smashed yams, mango salsa, black bean sauce and maple jus. You may be curious about the mango salsa but, take it from me, it was amazing!

The dish is beautifully presented with a crispy plantain strip decorating the plate and the colors alone are a feast. The tenderloin had a delicious smoky rub and just melted in your mouth. The tangy sweetness of the salsa played off the pork, and the yams, well. The plantain strip was also a nice little treat.

The dessert menu was simple with a good assortment of various desserts and drinks. I decided to try the Flourless Chocolate Cake and Jason ordered the Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée. Deciding on these dishes was hard but our chosen desserts were a delightful end to our meal.

Jason’s Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée was smooth, creamy and flavorful. Topped with Chantilly cream and a fresh berry, the dish was almost too pretty to eat. The hard caramel top of the cream added a bit of crunch and flavor to complete the dish.

The Flourless Chocolate Cake also comes with Chantilly cream and a raspberry sauce which adds a pop of color to the dish. The cake had the mouthfeel of decadent, gourmet fudge - smooth and creamy. The raspberry sauce was a nice contrast to the sweetness of the chocolate and kept the dessert from becoming too heavy.

The front of house staff and James, our server, were friendly and courteous. James always had a smile on his face and was attentive. He was ready to answer any questions, knew the menu well and added to the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant.

The interior of the restaurant is inviting and colorful without detracting from the art that is brought to your table. There is an outside patio and you are able to hold events there. You can visit their website to see the options for luncheons, dinners and cocktail receptions.

333 Belrose Bar & Grill is located at 333 Belrose Lane in Wayne and is easy to get to from the Blue Route. I’d recommend making reservations. You can reach the restaurant by calling 610-293-1000 or by visiting www.333belrose.com.
