Beautiful People: Proaction Restoration Team Provides Hurricane Relief

By Kaitlin Irwin

Mike McIntyre and his team at Proaction Restoration in Holmes, PA are dedicated to cleaning up the community and lending a helping hand. Their damage restoration and routine cleaning services serve residents in the Delaware Valley as well as the Pocono area. With 15 years of experience, Proaction Restoration is committed to providing the best service when people are in their greatest need. That includes certified help with fire recovery, water damage, business cleanup and remodeling repair. Recently, their services extended to a completely new area of the country.

On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas as a Category 4 storm. It was one of the most destructive hurricanes in United States history, dropping more than 40 inches of rain over Eastern Texas during a 4-day period. The flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey resulted in 30,000 displaced residents and more than 17,000 rescues. The economic losses attributed to the storm are estimated to be between $70 billion and $200 billion, making Harvey an unprecedented natural disaster in our country.

We’ve all seen the footage of flooded neighborhoods, homeless residents, and crowded school gymnasiums housing those affected by the storm. An emergency post was set up in Austin, Texas as organizations like the Coast Guard and FEMA scrambled to provide relief efforts. People from all over the country rose to the call to help out, contributing funds, items, and materials to Texas and the surrounding areas affected. Back in Holmes, PA, Proaction Restoration stepped up to the plate and decided to go straight to Texas to help with cleanup efforts.

The response to Proaction Restoration’s relief efforts was incredible, so much so that the company designated an entire truck to donations. Along with basic necessities, they collected diaper donations to help the Texas Diaper Relief Charity in San Antonio. In just 72 hours, the outpouring of contributions and support from the local community was amazing. Proaction Restoration had no trouble filling their 70-foot truck with goods and products for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. Other businesses and organizations also helped out, with the Ridley Township Police Department spearheading the efforts and Firpo & Sons providing the truck that carried supplies down to a church in Texas.

Proaction Restoration’s initiative is especially admirable because they not only collected much-needed materials for families in Texas, they transported those goods all the way from Holmes directly to those in need down South. When Hurricane Irma hit the Atlantic Coast on September 10, Proaction Restoration was at it again, rounding up support and dedicating their time and energy to help those who were left without anything. Through social media posts, word-of-mouth and sponsoring a football game fundraiser between Cardinal O’Hara and Bonner-Prendie High School, Proaction Restoration was able once again to amass a large amount of donations for hurricane relief.
